Tips and Tricks for Restoring Implants

On Wednesday, March 24, the Indianapolis District Dental Society will sponsor a program for dentists in practice 5 years or less. IDDS has organized this unique opportunity in conjunction with the Association of Indiana Dental Labs.

We will meet at Meridian Hills Country Club for serious snacks and refreshments from 5:30 to 6:30. The program will run from 6:30 to 8:30. 2 hours of CE will be awarded. Admission is $10.

Two speakers are featured. Dwight Rickert, CDT, from Preferred Dental Ceramics will discuss lab communication needs and Larry Sowinski, CDT, Somer Dental Lab, will discuss successful implant restorations.

The meeting promises to be a wonderful opportunity for the newer practitioner to learn from experienced Certified Laboratory Technicians and her or his peers.

The Indianapolis District Dental Society, Somer Dental Lab and Benco Dental sponsored digital impression training for dental assistants. 2 meetings, held at the Benco office and showroom, featured representatives from iTero Cadent and Lava COS explaining their systems.

Both systems offer benefits to dentists, labs and patients that will revolutionize restorative dentistry. Accurate scans lead to more accurate models. Better models lead to more accurate restorations and increased patient satisfaction. Further, most patients will find a digital scan more comfortable and faster than traditional impression techniques.

Benco supplied a wonderful Mexican dinner for the first meeting and Somer brought in an Italian meal for the second meeting. Three cheers for the Indianapolis Dental Assistants Applied Study Club.

The Indianapolis District Dental Society and Somer Dental Lab are proud to co-sponsor the Dental Assistants’ Study Club. The purpose of the organization is to offer dental assistants practical, hands-on information they can take back to the office and apply immediately.

Over time, we have offered meetings on shade taking, implants, new products, dentures, chair side materials, hand piece repair and maintenance and many other topics.
Attendees are awarded framed CE certificates suitable for display in the dental office. When hung on a wall for patients to see, they offer proof of their commitment to superior patient care.

In addition, the meetings offer a nice meal, good interaction with peers, a good time and a great introduction to organized dentistry.

On March 4, the 3 I rep made a helpful presentation on how implants work, their role in treatment planning and what 3 I does to simplify the process.

On April 8 David Krout from Patterson Dental and Kathy LaMont lead a discussion of impression materials.
